In the medical field of professional practice, dealing with religious patients can give rise to specific questions. However, religion does not typically play a role in the training of medical staff. This lecture raises the question of whether and how specific knowledge about religion could be useful in professional education at a secular university. We will discuss practical examples within the context of the broader question of religion in society.
Prof. tit. Dr. Ansgar Jödicke holds a PhD in the Study of Religion. He is a senior lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences, University of Fribourg, Switzerlan. His area of research is the sociology of religion, religion in the public sphere, and religion politics. He led and coordinated several research projects about the politics of education and the political role of religious groups in the South Caucasus.
